Tanglefoot Festival Smokes Expectations — Soundskilz Leads the Way

This past weekend, the Tanglefoot Music & BBQ Festival made its long-anticipated debut in Temple, Texas—and it did not disappoint. From nationally touring artists and pitmaster legends to a packed festival ground and seamless production, this first-year event exceeded expectations across the board.

At the center of the action was Soundskilz, which served as the festival’s lead production partner—overseeing event setup and management, logistics, artist coordination, digital and web services, branding, marketing, PR, and more.

🎶 National Acts, Local Vibes

Across two days and two stages, the festival featured a powerhouse lineup including Parker McCollum, Cody Jinks, Robert Earl Keen, Randy Rogers Band, Jack Ingram, Corey Kent, and many more. The Baylor Lariat called the performances “a celebration of Texas sound,” while Galleywinter praised the layout, sound quality, and crowd energy.

🍖 Barbecue from All Over the Map

The BBQ experience was a centerpiece of the weekend. Festivalgoers sampled smoked specialties from over a dozen top-tier pitmasters including Miller’s Smokehouse, Schoepf’s BBQ, Panther City BBQ, and others, representing Texas, Memphis, Carolina, and Kansas City styles. MySanAntonio highlighted the “rare opportunity to taste so many regional styles in one spot.”

Food operations ran smoothly thanks to Soundskilz’s planning: vendor placements were intuitive, tasting wristbands kept things moving, and cleanup teams ensured a tidy experience from start to finish.

⚙️ A Logistics Success Story

One of the festival’s biggest wins was its guest-focused logistics—managed end-to-end by Soundskilz. Key highlights included:

  • Free remote parking and chartered shuttle service via Wilson Park Rec Center to reduce congestion (Galleywinter)
  • Shaded seating areas and water refill stations for attendee comfort
  • Clearly marked ticketing, entry, and food zones
  • Security, medical, and operations staff visible and responsive throughout the grounds

The City of Temple commended the production team for helping spotlight the city’s emerging role as a cultural hub.

📱 Tech, Branding & PR

In addition to on-the-ground coordination, Soundskilz led the development of the official festival website and digital tools, including the launch of an app for real-time schedules, maps, and vendor listings. Many festivalgoers noted how helpful it was in planning their weekend.

Soundskilz also oversaw all branding—including the festival’s logo, merchandise, stage visuals, and on-site signage—and executed a full-service marketing and PR campaign across social, digital, and regional outlets.

Pre- and post-event media coverage included outlets such as KXXV, Galleywinter, The Baylor Lariat, and more.

📈 Big Impact for Temple

With thousands in attendance, local hotels booked, and downtown businesses buzzing, the festival created a significant economic and cultural impact. “It put Temple on the map in a whole new way,” one local merchant told KXXV. Soundskilz worked closely with the city and stakeholders to ensure a collaborative and well-executed debut year.

✅ What’s Next

From vendor coordination and artist booking to branding, web, and logistics—Soundskilz played a central role in every aspect of the Tanglefoot experience. And this is just the beginning. With 2025 in the books, planning has already begun for next year, with a goal of growing the event while keeping the soul of what made year one such a success.

Thank you, Temple, for embracing the first-ever Tanglefoot Festival. We’re already looking forward to next year!
